girltaku anime nyc 2025 recap

The Girltaku Team takes on AnimeNYC 2025!

AnimeNYC 2025 is officially over! We’ve had time to rest and reminisce on the fun of the four day weekend. With over 148,000 attendees and over 150 hours of programming, there was never dull moment. Our team had so much fun this year, here’s what we particularly enjoyed about last weekend!

Cosplay @ The River Pavillion

There were SO many amazing cosplays on the con floor and on display! We were particularly impressed by the ones featured in the Cosplay Exhibition including a fully crocheted cosplay?!? The River Pavilion was a cosplay haven this year. Especially if you wanted to meet your favorites cosplayers or run by cosplay repair. Just like last year, there were the several sets on site to take photos. The variety made it was easy to find a set to go with almost any cosplay!

Artist Alley

Artist Alley this year had a great selection and lots of artists to support. It was great to see shops from previous years and being introduced to new ones. Thanks to AnimeNYC’s virtual artist alley, it was less daunting to brave the alley. Some of our favorite shops this year include:

Kembeckled

Quisteen

Tadanoclub

Aquiboni

Memedokies

The Creator Lounge

We really appreciated the content creator lounge this year which was used for mixers throughout the show. It provided a great space to network with other creators and to film content. This year the creator room was sponsored by Video Game Amateurs and ISTF Collective. Along with the creator room, the press room sponsored by NIUHI was also a great place to catch up with friends in the industry!

The Japanese food court

Con food usually gets a bad rep, but AnimeNYC knows how to take care of a crowd. Fan favorites like Karl’s Balls kept us fed thanks to Dream Asia sponsoring the food hall. There was a lot of variety when it came to flavors and to prices!

The Comic Shop

The Comic Shop is an mockumentary style comedy following 4 nerds trying to save their beloved comic shop. The main cast took part of the panel where attendees could get a behind the scenes look of the show. We also got a lot of inspiration and learned the importance of advocating for ourselves as WOC in a nerdy space. This was such an insightful panel, and as a nerdy girl company we really felt seen during the panel. Be sure to support their team and watch the first episode which is out now!

Filming content!

We spent a lot of time running around the con floor! You may have seen Maya and I trying to complete our AnimeNYC scavenger hunt. This scavenger hunt was a great way to equate ourselves with what the con had to offer. Be on the lookout for the full video on our Youtube channel! If you missed the scavenger hunt, we probably got your signature in our AnimeNYC yearbook. Everyone looked great in their photos and we can’t wait to share!

Saturday Night After Party

Keeping with tradition, Girltaku and Sonicboombox partnered to throw another epic party Saturday night! We sold out before the con even started and for that, we are so grateful. Everyone showed up and showed out proven by the awesome photobooth pics! Whether you let it rip while playing beyblades or flung ping pongs across the room we’re happy to provide a great time!

There’s lots we were hoping to catch but couldn’t, but AnimeNYC 2025 was a huge success for us! We can’t wait to attend future show and to see you all there! What was your favorite thing about this year’s convention, let us know below!
