In Kamudo, a world of half-human, half-beast creatures known as demi-beings, comes alive from the artists behind the Legend of Zelda manga, the duo known as Akira Himekawa (A. Honda and S. Nagano).
Mild spoilers for Volume 1.
Kamudo is set in the realm of Hinoaruchi, where demi-being nations coexist and thrive thanks to the divine “pulse”—the life force feeding this world.
This is sustained by the demi-dragon nation of Ryujinkyo, which manages this pulse and keeps peace along the land. The world of Kamudo has a lot to take in. Half of the first volume establishes the overarching folklore, the governmental system, and the different demi-being societies and their specific attributes and cultures.

The plot picks up pace after a prophecy of massive change is revealed to the wise dragon elder, Elder Gara, and the first human ever, Kamuna, is born.
This strange child is the elder’s descendant—born to his great granddaughter Ribeka. However, the only attributes he shares with dragons are his left arm and a smaller-than-average tail. Kamuna must grapple with his differences and make up for the weakness of his body compared to that of his fellow dragons. He does not yet understand that he is not a divine mistake, but rather a sign of evolving times.

Whether this will bring salvation or destruction to an increasingly tense world remains to be seen.
If you like high fantasy action manga, I would definitely recommend giving this a shot. This is not a usual genre for me. I need a few more chapters to really get into the story, but I liked it enough to do so. The art is absolutely beautiful, the lore is fascinating, and the characters are intriguing. All this combined makes for a captivating story with a lot of potential.
VIZ media released Volume 1 on November 6th, 2025.
