Enemies to lovers has always been my favorite manhwa trope. Going from simmering hatred to realizing they’re attracted to their enemy? I eat it up every time. Bonus if it’s a slow burn to get there. The gradual transformation from open hostility to begrudging alliance to utter devotion. The moment they realize the person they’re supposed to hate is the one who understands them the most. It makes the romance so satisfying!
Whether you’re looking for a villainess isekai or a modern-day romcom, here are some manhwa recommendations with all the tension, lingering glances, and second thoughts that come with the enemies to lovers trope!
1. Villains are Destined to Die

Starting the list with one of my all-time favorites! If the sword-to-her-throat intro and threats to her life don’t scream actual ENEMIES to lovers, then I don’t know what does. Our female lead gets isekai’d into her favorite dating sim as Penelope Eckhart, the antagonist of the game. To make matters worse, she’s living her new reality on hard mode – where almost everyone starts as her enemy.

2. Serena

If you’re looking for a marriage of convenience where they genuinely can’t stand the sight of each other, this is it! Our headstrong heiress, Serena, clashes with her seemingly cold-hearted husband, Eiser, as they struggle to keep her family’s legacy alive. It’s a slow-burn enemies to lovers with a lot of character development (you’ll have to be patient), a lot of drama, and the most stunning art.

3. How to Get My Husband on my Side / How to Win my Husband Over

Gather around if you like the cold Duke of the North trope because our male lead is it. Ruby gets isekai’d into the villainess role of a novel where she’s destined to be killed by her own husband, Iske. The story deals with heavier topics, as our female lead carries trauma from both her past and current life. To stay alive, she has to win over her husband, who views her family as the ultimate enemy.

4. To Love Your Enemy

This story follows Yeonhee Bae, a girl trying to get a fresh start at university and leave her past behind, only to run into someone who knows her deepest secret. Their interactions are a battle of wits and banter! Past grudges and current rivalries aside, you’ll see the two eventually realize that their biggest enemy is actually their perfect match.

5. Act Like You Love Me!

“25-year-old Ji-eon is stressed, overworked, and penniless.” *cue meme: wait, is this fucking play about us?* A chaotic boss vs employee romcom with a supernatural twist – our female lead has a doll with the magical ability to control her (very arrogant) boss.

6. Purple Hyacinth

Our female lead is an officer with the ability to detect lies. She forms an unlikely alliance with the city’s deadliest assassin to take down a shadowy criminal organization. They’re natural enemies on opposite sides of the law but they have the slowest of slow burn CHEMISTRYYYYY. One of my favorite manhwa.

7. Devilish Romance

After being framed and exiled to Earth, our male lead (a devil named Sitri) has to hunt down a serial killer to regain his status. Enter a perfectionist boss whom he hates but has to work under. Watching a literal demon navigate human emotions has to be the most hilarious thing ever. The balance of humor, chaos, and romance was great.

8. Trapped / Olgami

This manhwa is a little different. It’s a psychological thriller that even has some horror-esque elements in the beginning, but it is SO GOOD. Our female lead, Chae-a, is an ex-convict, and the male lead is a mysterious vampire. He blackmails her with a murder she didn’t commit, and what ensues is a deadly cat-and-mouse game. A twisted cycle of obsession, manipulation, and devotion. Definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat.

9. Revenge Wedding

This marriage of convenience starts with a literal kidnapping. BOTH the female and male leads are kidnapped and forced into a political marriage. She’s an influential socialite (who is hilarious, might I add), and he’s a powerful war hero. And both are convinced that the other tricked them. They soon find out that there’s a third party plotting to kill them!

10. Your Eternal Lies

Convicted murderer x war hero. This one’s very angsty and emotional. The female lead is transported to the world’s most notorious maximum-security prison. By the hero of the empire himself. She has to use every lie she can to survive, and he has to uncover the truth. Did she really kill her husband?
